Amy Kummer
Amy’s design style and love of interiors have been in her life since her childhood. Her family, particularly her mother and her grandmother, had a love and appreciation for beautiful things—not only for their aesthetics but for their meaning. Amy carries that same reverence and respect for timeless elegance through each project—and her clients can feel (and appreciate!) her deeply rooted passion for making their homes beautiful and meaningful. With over a decade of experience in the design industry, Amy has developed an affinity and mastery for fresh traditional designs. Her strength lies in her ability to pull together fabrics in an effortless, yet refined way, keeping the overall look classic and timeless. Amy Kummer Interiors represents a commitment to elegance, femininity, and the high-level, professional expertise that is hallmark of its services. Although AKI is known for luxury-level, white glove interior design experiences for its clients, Amy's cheerful, welcoming, and kind personality make the process approachable, positive, and memorable. AKI gracefully walks the lines between luxury and livable, traditional with a touch of modern, and professional and down-to-earth. As Amy’s national portfolio continues to rapidly grow, so too has her press recognition, with features and articles in Southern Living, HGTV, and Cottages and Gardens. In 2022, Amy was selected to design a room at the Hampton Designer Showhouse as well as participate in the Holiday House X HGTV Virtual Showhouse. Amy lives with her husband Brett and two precious children Preston and Caroline.
Avery Cox
Avery Cox is an Austin-based interior designer—born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Avery has been surrounded by art and architecture her whole life. Developing her artistic eye early on through the lens of her mother’s too short but prolific creative life and painting career, she has always had a unique way of seeing color and space. After studying interior design at the University of Georgia, Avery moved to New York City and worked for some east coast greats before moving back to Austin in 2016 and founding Avery Cox Design. While living in Maine in her mid-20’s Avery took a break from design to pursue her other passion- the craft food and beverage industry. The technical, humble, and expressive nature of recipe creation and service helped reshape her understanding of creativity and hospitality and is something Avery Cox Design values as a company through their support and involvement in local businesses, partnerships, and always having the best coffee set up in the office or a funky bottle of natural wine on hand.
Courtney Barton
Textile designer and shop curator Courtney Barton is known for her coveted East-meets-West linens and charming collection of furnishings and accessories. Barton’s approach to interiors and her work with textiles are rooted in her Southern upbringing and inspired by years living abroad in Asia. For years Barton has partnered with her team of artisans in Rajasthan, India to design heirloom-quality textiles using heritage block printing methods. The production of Barton’s textiles contributes to the artisans’ long-term employment and their families’ financial stability. Her personal tie to the artisans, their families and the production process from beginning to end is critical to Barton, who considers social impact to be a core component of her business model. Courtney Barton textiles celebrate unexpected print and color combinations and are designed to be mixed and matched to elevate interiors with dimension and comfort. Over the past decade, Barton has cultivated a loyal following for her luxuriously soft cotton Dohar blankets and custom hand-blocked pillows. In addition to soft goods, Barton stocks her shop with antique furnishings, art, apothecary products, home décor, and fashion accessories ethically sourced from around the world. Each hand-selected piece reflects her refined aesthetic and ability to mix objects, origins and eras to create spaces that are both timeless and soulful. Influenced by her mother’s and grandmother’s intricate sewing, Barton developed an eye for design at a young age. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a degree in Textiles & Design, Barton moved to New York City to work under Jill Stuart and couturier Ralph Rucci. A marriage proposal from her now-husband brought her to Houston before the couple relocated to Malaysia. It was during this expat season that Barton amassed a covetable collection of antique linens and unusual finds. She returned to Houston with bags of exotic wares in tow, and her original concept “Mela & Roam” was born. In January 2020 Barton transitioned to an eponymous brand after nearly a decade of growing her business from a fledgling venture into a well-established storefront and e-commerce destination. When she is not working with clients at her charming Houston shop or in Round Top’s slower-paced country fields, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband and two precocious boys.

Jennifer Barron
A native Texan, Jennifer was born and raised in Dallas. She attended Vanderbilt University to pursue a degree in Human and Organizational Development and a minor in Art History. Following graduation, Jennifer returned to her hometown with Teach for America, after which she decided to pursue her love for design. To begin her career, she attended the Art Institute of Chicago, transferring to the Art Institute of Houston where she received her degree in Interior Design. While a student, she earned real-time experience working part time for a designer, and was eventually brought on full-time as a Project Designer upon graduating. In September of 2015, Jennifer launched Jennifer Barron Interiors. As a professional Interior Designer, Jennifer believes in the philosophy that her clients should be so in love with their home, they are excited every time they walk in their front door. Her mission is to make her clients' visions reality and believes that in each space, there should be something meaningful to them. Jennifer uses color and pattern to bring rooms to life, often turning to her favorite medium: wallpaper! Jennifer’s self-described style incorporates a blend of antiques with more contemporary elements of design. She brings her passion for style and design to each project, motivated by making a change in a place that her clients experience every day – their home. Jennifer currently resides in Houston with her husband (John), kids (Gaines, Sally and Parks). She enjoys traveling, especially with family and friends to Park City, Utah, where she loves to ski. When she’s not designing, Jennifer can be found jumping from sport to sport with her kids, jogging through her neighborhood, or exploring Houston’s next best natural wine bar with her husband.
Kristen Leigh Steen
Kristen Leigh Steen is a watercolor artist, textile, and wallpaper designer based in Houston. A native Texan, Kristen's creative journey began when she took a break from her career as an elementary school teacher to raise her two children in 2015. Now, nearly a decade later, with one more child, she continues to expand her brand, Kristen Leigh Studio. Her recent unveiling of the 2024 'Metamorphosis' collection at the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House Spring Gala is a stunning display of her commitment, turning her patterns into a captivating tabletop display that showcases her artistry in three dimensions. Kristen's patterns stem from her self - taught watercolor practice. She spends hours sketching at home and experimenting with color and technique to portray traditional emblems with a touch of whimsy in fresh and exciting colors. She has a passion for creating fresh yet familiar patterns, believing that pieces should celebrate the vibrancy of a joyful home with the beauty of everyday, ordinary moments. Her inspiration often comes from her natural surroundings and her travels with her family and other creatives. She is a part of the sought-after Design Social Pop-Up and finds joy in building authentic relationships with fellow creatives and boutique brands. Her patterns are mostly inspired by her family vacations to the beaches along the southern coast and exploring the outdoors with her husband and children. Kristen also appreciates traditional motifs, architectural details, and urban vistas, influencing her whimsical and playful designs. Her recent collections have introduced deeper colors: forest green, navy blue, rich chocolate brown, and warm grays, which balance out the soft pastels from her inaugural collections. Family is not just a priority for Kristen; it's the heart of her inspiration. When she's not bringing her designs to life, Kristen cherishes early mornings with big cups of coffee, long runs with her dog in her neighborhood, and quality time with her loved ones. This personal touch is woven into every piece she creates, making her work relatable and heartfelt. Earlier this year, Kristen collaborated with Stout Textiles to launch a collection of new designs across textiles and coordinating wallpaper under Stout's "Art of Color" line. Named after a street in her close-knit neighborhood in Houston, the Morningside collection reflects the feeling of home and the sense of ease and comfort that home brings to many. The artistic details are similar to the care that goes into our homes and the pride people take in making their homes uniquely theirs. Kristen has been featured in Aspire Home + Design, Business Of Home, Cottages & Gardens, Frederic, and Traditional Home magazines, and she will continue receiving recognition as her boutique brand grows and reaches a wider audience.
